Apartment 1

Description

The ‘dressing’ of a 1st floor interior of a 60sq.m apartment, to be inhabited for 2 years, as rented accommodation.

A rented apartment requires minimal interventions in its permanent elements, especially when the duration of the tenancy is short.
In this case, 2 years.

The architectural solution for this interior is a combination and selection of surfaces, textures and accessories that utilize the spaces according to a required use. These can be re-arranged in the future, or re-combined to ‘dress’ another interior. They are the accessories that move and re-occupy another space, just like the tenant will, after the duration of the tenancy is over. They are indispensable.
Just like the clothes and accessories in a wardrobe are an existing database, through which different combinations, outfits are created.
In the same way an outfit (infit) was to be created to dress this interior. There was no pre-existing wardrobe, the -data base- was the market, and when specific needs were not met by existing products, then furniture were designed and made to fit.
Minor improvements and re-adjustments, corrected the existing enclosure, while furniture and accessories became the temporary elements that rendered its inhabitation possible, comfortable and suitable to the needs and requirements of it’s occupant.
Major pre-occupations: comfort, flexibility, light-ness.
